China may be committing genocide against its minority Uyghur population, trying to erase the culture of Tibet, and threatening to invade Taiwan — but it could be worse!
At least China isn’t Georgia — or that’s what President Joe Biden seems to believe.
After offering a weak diplomatic boycott for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, the Biden administration couldn’t even bring itself to urge corporate sponsors to drop the Genocide Games.
“What individual companies do is entirely up to them,” said Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. “We’re not going to pressure them one way or another.”
That is a decidedly different tone than the one Biden took when Georgia decided to reform its voting laws. As has been made clear time and time again, Georgia’s new voting law was not “Jim Crow on steroids” and actually expanded voting opportunities for most Georgians. But that didn’t matter — Biden backed the idea of moving the MLB All-Star Weekend out of Atlanta in response. He encouraged MLB players to pressure the league into doing so. He also applauded corporations for speaking out against the state and launched a doomed political lawsuit over it.
Biden has compared Republican-run states that pass new voting laws to the Confederacy. When the Supreme Court refused to stop Arizona from banning ballot harvesting, Biden compared it to the Ku Klux Klan and denounced it as an attack on the “beating heart of our democracy.”
If you don’t support letting people cast Election Day ballots outside their own precinct, you are a racist and, evidently, worse than China’s genocidal regime, which has sent millions of Uyghurs to concentration camps.

Biden is completely spineless when it comes to authoritarian regimes. Xi and Vladimir Putin laugh at the thought of him. Even worse, he combines his cowardice on the international stage with a toxic hatred for his domestic political opponents. His pretense of being a proponent of unity is just gross, frankly. There is no justification for his concerted effort to be harsher on Republicans than on the Chinese communists, and it’s a disgraceful reminder that Biden’s unity act is a sad joke.
