Texas Gov. Greg Abbott predicted greater chaos along the southern border when Title 42 ends, setting the stage for Americans to be even angrier than they are about inflation.

Appearing on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom on Thursday, Abbott discussed the Biden administration’s decision to, as of May 23, terminate the Trump-era public health policy that has permitted the United States to turn away migrants because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This clearly is unprecedented,” Abbott said, noting that 18,000 people are predicted to cross the border each day once Title 42 ends.

“It’s a high volume that the United States and states like Texas are ill-equipped to be able to deal with, and the Biden administration has no idea about the chaos it stoked. You think Americans are angry about inflation right now? Wait until they see the chaos that is going to occur on the border because of Biden’s open-border policies.”

The Republican governor said his efforts to fight the Biden administration’s southern border policies include providing transportation for the migrants to travel willingly to Washington, D.C., noting that if law enforcement forced migrants to go, it would be kidnapping.

“They have to get their permission to move them across the United States,” Abbott said. “Listen, these migrants, once they come across the border, it’s not as if they want to stay down there in the Rio Grande Valley. … What better place for them to go to than the steps of the United States Capitol? They get to see the wonderful Capitol but also get closer to the people making these policies that are allowing people to come across the border illegally.”

Abbott added that the crisis is gaining bipartisan support among border states’ leaders as they realize more than 5 million people could cross the border each year under the Biden administration’s policies.

“Both Republicans and Democrats realize the chaos the Biden administration has caused,” Abbott said.
